Activities, Coordinator roles and the work of IAESTE Macedonia!
The Summer Reception covers the entire second period, i.e. the summer in IAESTE. Most internships, but not all, are carried out in this period. That means that we welcome all the foreign students that chose Macedonia as a destination for their internship, and during that time they get to know Macedonia in its true light.
Whenever we visit a new country, we would all like to see its landmarks, visit different places for entertainment, visit the best gastronomic facilities and taste the local cuisine.
When it comes to Macedonia, every foreigner wants to walk around Ohrid and see at least some of the 365 churches, to refresh themselves in Lake Ohrid, to walk through the Old Bazaar in Skopje, to drink coffee at Shirok Sokak in Bitola, to attend the Galichnik Wedding, to savour Macedonian barbecue and beer at the Beer Fest, to degustate Macedonian wine in Kavadarci, to visit the spring and waterfall of the Babuna River, to climb the Solunska Glava peak, to visit Heraclea Lyncestis and Pelister National Park, to visit the monastery of Saint Naum, to go to Matka and see the caves, to climb Vodno, even to taste foreign food prepared with Macedonian groceries, not to mention the wish to learn some Macedonian words.
It would be Ideal if we could do all that with a group of friends. It would be a bonus if someone from the group were able to show you around. IAESTE Macedonia enables all of that. IAESTE Macedonia forms that group of friends which is a mixture of all of the interns plus the Macedonians that are in the country and are eager to socialize. That explains why the Summer Reception in Macedonia is considered to be the best organized Summer Reception.
The Job Raising campaign is one of the most important activities that IAESTE Macedonia organizes throughout the year. This campaign implies obtaining internships from Macedonian companies and institutions for foreign students from technical faculties.
During the Annual Conference which is held in January, the acquired internships are exchanged with different countries following the one for one principle. In other words, depending on how many internships we manage to obtain from Macedonian companies for foreign students, that many Macedonian students will have the opportunity to pursue an internship abroad.
The average number of obtained internships in the last couple of years is 60. The general impression is that the employers’ interest to be a part of our exchange program continually increases. Knowing that they enable Macedonian students to perfect their technical skills abroad, the employers accept our request and they are pleased with our collaboration. We hope that in the coming years the number of interested employers will be even greater, which would increase the number of Macedonian students who will go on an internship somewhere abroad.
During Job Raising the members of IAESTE Macedonia establish contact with the potential employers in our country and they inform them about the way that our organization works. If the employer agrees to collaborate with us, an official agreement is signed for a foreign student pursuing an internship during the next year. The agreement contains all of the necessary information and details about the student’s profile, as well as a description of the internship which they will pursue.
The Fund Raising team of IAESTE Macedonia is continuously working, trying to achieve a greater collaboration with the funds and the companies. They take active participation in different trainings related to working with grants, writing projects etc.
They wakefully keep track of calls for different applications as well as various competitions in which IAESTE Macedonia can take part in.
The FR team also pays special attention to our existing partners and successfully maintains our collaboration with them, as well as they are in search of gaining new business collaborations.
Open to different business projects, the FR team of IAESTE Macedonia is available at any time by the coordinators.
The Design Coordinator is the officially responsible person for making and selecting designs for promotional materials for IAESTE Macedonia. As such, they have the task of organizing all of the design contests, as well as to organize and lead workshops. Moreover, to continuously guide the members of the organization during their creation of designs, as well as to take over the responsibility of completing the winning design consulting with the winner.
Also, to organize the printing of the promotional materials and of course they themselves to actively participate in the design competitions with their own works. The design responsible, with the aforementioned obligations is elected once a year, in October and they remain in that position during the whole year. All of the members that have participated in any design contest organized by our organization have the right to run for this position, while the person is elected by the Local Board and the current Design Coordinator.
One of the most technical position in IAESTE is the position IT Coordinator. In order to pursue this position, you need to have basic knowledge of WordPress, as well as creativity and a desire for editing web content.
One of the activities of the IT Coordinator is updating the content of our website, such as posting the current available internships, results of the external competition or adding a photo or a video in our gallery.
Also, the IT Coordinator in collaboration with the Marketing Responsible takes care of publishing new posts, news about events, as well as posting various experiences of students that went on an internship, on our blog.
Besides that, the IT Coordinator needs to be familiar with and follow all of the news in web technology, with the implementation of which they will provide easier access to our websites content, and at the same time refresh its appearance.
The beginning of spring in IAESTE also means the beginning of the campaign for new members. We organize the campaign for new members in order to introduce all of the students from the technical faculties to the work and existence of IAESTE as well as to maintain the continuity of our members. The campaign covers an active promotion of IAESTE through all of the technical faculties i.e. presentations and promotional materials through which the students have an opportunity to get informed and acquainted with the fundamental idea of IAESTE.
Every member wants to convey the great love for IAESTE to the younger members, therefore with tremendous desire and motivation, each year we have this campaign on which we present our experience.
The end of the campaign is traditionally marked by the Seminar for Training and Motivation, while the result of the campaign is seen on the first meeting after its completion.
